In fact, Wex's weapon plays a huge part in the game, and how it was designed. Wex, armed with a powerful and fantastic weapon, hesitantly agrees to lead the 9's against Karn and the Domination. Having lost his family to Karn and his organization, Domination, Wex joins up with eight other orphaned teens, who call themselves the Wild 9. Karn, the evil 376-year old despot, actually just a massive face mounted into the ceiling of his palace, has, with his cyberkinetically controlled "Zero Cannon," pretty much flattened the Cluster to the ground. Wild 9 is the story of Wex, a teenager living in the Annapolis Cluster, a group of inter-orbiting planets surrounded by six stars. It's easy to play and control from the get-go. So, Wex can grab an opponent and slam him back and forth, push objects, or swing to and fro from certain objects. The main character, Wex, owns a glove-like hand weapon that bursts an unusual electromagnetic charge to control other objects. In short, Wild 9 will have about 13-15 levels, each which takes about 45 minutes on average to complete. That's right, but it's harmless videogame torture, and it's a lot of frickin' good fun. The twist is pure, unadulterated torture. This game is essentially, as Shiny founder Dave Perry explains it, a platformer with a twist. Thankfully, the latest version of the game (due on the retail shelves bu October 1), is the best we've seen. The game has been in development for about three years, and has seen some dramatic changes.
