One specific teaching I spent over 6 years with worked very hard with me and worked through thousands of practice material and benefited greatly by practicing EVERYTHING. They gave me all the tools necessary to practice effectively, understand the level of playing I needed to get to in order to work as a professional. any positive result equals progress.ĭid you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?Īll of my private teachers inspired me to continue with music. That's OK! You're still getting a positive result. Concepts you practice may be really hard and only see a small result of your effort. It's always best to keep in mind there are "levels" of results. Some results you'll see right away and others may take significant time to notice. My over all observation on results are they vary. Results depend on consistent practicing as I mentioned before. I've been playing for over 18 years now and I'm still learning. The musical process is always in progress. It gives them positive 1 on 1 instruction to help them understand the process of learning and instrument and can easily progress faster with 1 on 1 instruction. If your child is curious at all about playing and instrument or singing or doing anything musical, get them started in lessons right away. My brother was a huge influence and showed me how to play. I started playing trumpet at the age of 6. My personal belief is a student is ready to learn music and start lessons as soon as they want. How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons? The more you stay consistent with something, even if its short periods of time daily, cumulatively we continue to grow and become better! A musician practices wide range of things in order to reach a high level of command on their instrument. The more they do it the more things fall into place and the swing gets more consistent and more accurate. Golfers go to the driving range to practice their swing. Just like with exercising playing an instrument is very similar. Even if you practice 15 mins a day you're working things out. By simple practicing everyday things fall into place before we notice. What advice do you have about practicing effectively?Įffective practicing can be accomplished by being consistent.
